Rheim Alkadhi
Field Guide Excerpts
9.12–11.12.2021 | Cancelled
Film fragments & slow reading
9 December 2021, 7pm & 10 December 2021, 7pm (registration required)
The premise of my inquiry into the Majnoon Field is particular and overarching. I have been engrossed, even troubled, by what the Majnoon means inter-regionally, and far beyond our acknowledged chronologies or dimensions. An earlier ‘Proposal to Inhabit the Majnoon Field’ has given way to departures and arrivals – a fieldwork elaborating phenomena attendant to an elusive entirety. And so, to set forward cumulative points of reference, I compile a field guide containing texts, maps, and other material. While the publication is set for completion only next year, on this night I will stage a slow reading of dense passages excerpted from texts in progress, and alongside screen projections of recent film fragments.
Entire reading to last between 30 to 90 minutes—possibly longer. Simultaneous film fragments, excerpted from between 7 and 23 reels.
